Hierarchy: division of labor based in specialization. Health philosophy: henry ford had investigators monitor cleanliness at worker"s homes. Discouraged smoking, gambling, and drinking or else workers would not receive full wage. Fordism and body as castle/ at war ideals include: hierarchy/specialization, sense of stability/ maintenance, containment and boundaries, domestic factories produce raw material (steel) and finished product (car, the body stays insulate/ protected from the outside world. Less focus on surfaces/ exteriors, more on interiors. Workers need to be flexible; multiple skills, multiple jobs in lifetime. Communication and transportation enhance speed and flexibility. Disease in one bodily/ economic system affects others. Cells, nerves vs. transportation, communication, finance systems. Immune system: more money= more training for body (martial arts, yoga) Countries with more $ can cope with epidemics. Economic system: people with more money can train for more multiple skills and experiences to get better jobs. Countries with more $ endure economic crises better.
