Females need to get enough food to support themselves and their infants (breast feed) females have to be able to get enough food to be able to nurse their offspring which is an extremely costly activity. Ways food resources are distributed impacts the female distribution. In most primate species the limited factor for males for having babies is how many females they can access. Less limited by the access to food more influenced by how females are distributed. Food influences female distribution female distribution impacts male distribution/reproduction.
