Fixed point, through which body weight is transmitted or balanced. When humans stand, the cog is situated directly in the midline. Foramen magnum is positioned directly underneath the skull in humans. This allows the cranium to balanced on the backbone much easier. Therefore it does not take much muscular effort to keep the head balanced since its already in the middle. In chimps the foramen magnum is positioned in the back of the skull.
