Document Summary

Numerical data can be organised into 3 categories ordered array, frequency distribution and cumulative distributions. An ordered array is a sequence of data, in rank order from smallest to largest, showing the range and outliers. Is a summary table in which data are arranged into numerically ordered classes. Appropriate number of class groupings must be selected for table, with a suitable width and boundaries. Should have at least 5 but no more than 15 classes. Width= divide range by number of classes desired. You can also have relative and percentage frequency distributions, and cumulative frequency distributions. (have one column for frequency, another for cumulative frequency with last number as the total sample space). Frequency distribution is used as it condenses raw data into a more useful form, allowing quick visual interpretation (where is data concentrated/clustered). Class boundaries can create different pictures, especially in smaller data sets.
