Functionali sm: fir st am erican psych ol ogy. American society was interested in darwin"s natural selection, which involved two elements: inheritance and adaptation to environment. Inheritance usa was one of first countries where eugenics had strong impact. But american society, contrary to galton, diverged towards negative eugenics preventing people with undesirable features from having children.
