To prevent bias, journalist must understand what causes it. The tendency to notice or believe evidence only if it supports our preconceived ideas. Universal human condition that most people seem unaware of. The underlying bias that causes most forms of media bias. Causes reporter to assume that their own subjective opinions are actually objective facts. And to overlook or dismiss conflicting facts and opinions. Media consumers also experience media bias, by preferring coverage that reflects their preexisting points of view. Ignorance is the most common form of bias. People with the same biases don"t challenge each other. Journalist mistake their own beliefs as objectives facts. Journalists see one side as reasonable and illegitimate. Journalist fail to question their own observations or to challenge each other. Consider how different readers would judge news values differently. Build a long-term audience instead of chasing clicks". As journalists, challenge yourselves and challenge each other. Always let people directly respond to criticism.
