Document Summary
First punic war (264-261 bce) was fought over sicily. The first punic war happened because the local sicilians wanted the carthaginians off their island. So, the sicilians call to rome for aid. Rome reclaims control of the island but this battle obviously leads to many more battles. The first punic war marks the first time rome declares war. Second punic war (218-201 bce) was a big war because of hannibal. Hannibal turns this war into a near world war. Ha(cid:374)(cid:374)i(cid:271)al kills (cid:1005)/(cid:1007) of ro(cid:373)e"s se(cid:374)ators, takes all of their food and even marches on rome. Third punic war (149-146 bce) rome wipes out carthage entirely by burning it to the ground. There are hundreds of battles fought in these three wars, most of them were in italy. The punic wars end seasonal warfare, battles are fought year round non-stop all the time.
