Kagan, a professor of psychology at harvard, studied temperament and its effects. A dimension he looked at was how easily babies would get upset when exposed to new things. Kagan talks about the 19th baby in his study. This baby started crying when she was introduced to new toys, new voices, new sounds. An infant who is inhibited as an infant could have many challenges as well as many advantages as they group up. An infant who is shy, can remain shy. During childhood and young adulthood, he/she would not be very social. As mentioned for baby 19, she participated in few extracurricular activities, she was still shy, and her hobbies were very to herself.
