Lubricant (watery) produced by serous membrane. Why do you have serous fluid? each other. Pleural cavity does not exist there are no spaces; 2 membranes (v. p & p. p) rub along. To prevent friction b/c lungs move independently of body wall. Parietal pericardium lines the cavity in which heart is in. Pericardial cavity space between 2 membranes w/ serous fluid. If the regions are healthy, the space in the cavity should not exist. Inflammatory response cleanup & repair process.
