Merocrine gland ex: salivary glands 3 sets. Product of gland: basically molecules that are in water. Ex: digestive enzyme: amylase enzyme that begins breakdown of carbohydrates. Ex: antibacterial molecule some people consider mouth the dirtiest part of the body and everything that you put in it has bacteria on it. Saliva is very watery material very fluid. Not many particles in it - nonparticulate product (soluble, watery product) Flows out of ducts into oral cavities as you need it. Apocrine gland ex: mammary gland produces milk. Milk- more particulate than water or saliva because it contains cell pieces (debri) has lots of calcium & various proteins & carbohydrates. Apical surface is pinching off able to replace the pinched off parts. Lipids and proteins are primary components of the membrane of the cell. Pieces of cells are passed on product of gland for nutritional purposes. Proteins can be soluble; lipid droplets can be soluble.
