Evolutionary personality theory traits exist universally in humans because they have helped humans achieve the goals of physical survival and reproduction. Parental investment time, effort, energy, and risk associated with caring. Many animals ensure survival of next generations by having many successfully for each offspring offspring, few of which survive. Others have few offspring, but care and protect for them. Robert trivers notes that the parent who invests most in offspring will be more. Monogamous mating system is expected when both parents investment is competed for and will discriminate more when choosing high, since it is unlikely that a single parent can successfully raise offspring. Polyandry (female mates with many males) is rare. Polygynandry (all members mate with all other members) is common in. Cooperation situations in which one individual helps another to gain an advantage some primates, and helps reduce competition themselves. Altruism one individual helps another, but in doing so they accrue a cost.
