When younger: goals shift in prep for future. When older (70+): focus on emotionally meaningful. Related to breadth of perspective about time. Efferent nerves interneurons/ mixed research methods of studying the brain. Multiple causes; acquired brain injury vs genetic disorder trauma , poisoning/ neurotoxicity, infection, surgery, chemo. Depending on severity, impairment limited by neuroplasticity. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (tms) & transcranial direct current stimulation (tdcs) Common side effects are headache & light-headed. Detect what parts of the brain are working. All parts of the brain are always active .
