Document Summary

The degree to which inner and outer selves and behaviours are the same or different across situations. What do people want to see from me, how will you change/act to be more favourable to others. High self-monitors vary in their inner and outer selves and in how they perform in different settings. Carefully survey every situation looking for cues on how to act appropriately. Can be described as adaptable, popular, sensitive, able to fit in but also two faced, lacking integrity. Known to perform better in interviews, make more friends. Known to look to the environment for clues to how they are feeling (heart rate and laughing example) Low self-monitors are largely the same outside as they are inside, they do not vary much from one setting to the next. Tend to be more consistent regardless of the situation they are in because their behaviour is guided more by their inner personality.
