Methodology: how do social psychologists do their research. Hindsight bias: the tendency for people to exaggerate how much they could have predicted an outcome after knowing it occurred (example: Events are far less obvious and predictable beforehand than after the fact. Because we are somewhat familiar with social aspects certain results of studies will be obvious. Often takes inspiration from earlier theories and research. Sometimes people are dissatisfied with current theories explanation and seek to explain in a new way. Sometimes they can base hypothesis o personal observations. Of which there are three: correlational method, observational method, and experimental method. Observational method: the technique whereby a researcher observes people and systematically records measurements or impressions of their behavior. Ethnography: the method by which researchers attempt to understand a group of culture by observing it from the inside, without imposing any preconceived notions they might have.
