Document Summary

The teachers were civilians who were the ones being studied. When they got an answer wrong they were to be electrocuted was presented with a white rat to see his response and he reached for it. Every time after when he was presented with the white rat and he would reach for it, a loud noise would be given juts behind his ear. Then every time he was presented with the rat he would start screaming without the noise. For 70 years there was research being done without ethics in place. A study was done with an 8 month old boy to see if he could be given a phobia. No ethics as to how the study would affect him for the rest of his life. After the nuremberg trials- nazis said that the horrible studies they did were done. Americans were outraged that the nazis listened to these authorities.
