Gwas allow us to know the main snps associated with the phenotype of interest separately. To know their joint contribution, the so-called genetic risk scores (grs) are used. In figure 3 the calculation of grs is presented in its two main forms: a) unweighted, and b) weighted. 29 multiple studies have analyzed and quantified the influence of various grs associated with different cardiovascular phenotypes. More detail on the calculation of grs and its advantages and disadvantages can be found in other reviews. All this greatly increases reliability and lowers cost. Currently there are several projects that aim to sequence the genome of thousands of individuals and map them; to facilitate this goal, technology is contributing with the hiseq x , Hiseq x produces 1. 8 tb of sequence per run in 3 days and is specially designed for whole genome sequencing, which requires very high throughput and multi-parallel sequencing at the same time 31 .
