Every individual has 2 copies of each genes, one from father and mother. Gene for flower color, every flower has 2 flower genes. Smooth, or wrinkle cover of the shell. Genotype (unique combination of alleles an individual can have, coding for a trait) 2 alleles: violet gene and white gene. Both alleles are of the same kind. Homozygote, one individual plant that has the 2 alleles of the same kind. Heterozygote, any garden pea plant with a hetero genotype. Any allele in a heterozygous genotype that is expressed in the phenotype is the dominant allele. Any allele in a heterozygous genotype that is not expressed in the phenotype is the recessive allele. Three or more alternative forms of a gene (alleles) that can occupy the same locus. However, only two of the alleles can be present in a single organism.
