Document Summary

Seems to deny an essential tenant of classic theism. There are two different aspects of conceiving god, natura naturans, natura naturata through its attributes, or as producing itself, or as causing itself. When we think of nature naturing, we are conceiving substance as expressing itself. Natura naturata is the conception of nature in terms of that which is caused by the. Looking at the particular modes of substance through the self-producing modes. We know things on the basis of extension and thought self-causing activity. But both of these ways are just different modes of conceiving the same reality. The world of particular things is nothing distinct from god, but expressed through god"s attributes in god"s various modes. We think of god or nature through the attributes of thought and extension. However, god/nature"s attributes are infinite, and we humans only know substance through thought and extension, mainly because of the limitations in the human thinking.
