Oral: birth-1. 5 years; baby catches all pleasure to their mouth; if not given too little or too less they will become orally xated adults (constantly have something in their mouth) Anal: 2-3 years; children receive pleasure from pooping; kids need to have control of their bowels. If children aren"t given control over bowels then they become anal retentive. Phallic: 3-6 years; children are focused on genitals- kids very curious about their parts. Latency: 6- puberty; nothing sexual happens; socialization is most important. Genital: puberty- death; now sexual focused on sexual pleasure- preferably with a partner. Oedipal complexes- (affects boys) come out around age of 4; have desire to marry mothers. Most of time push farther away; sit on mother"s lap, say he loves his mom. Electra complex- (affects girls) have the desire to marry fathers. First stage- trust vs. mistrust (birth to 18 months) Goal is to for child to have trust in environment and people around them.
