PSYCH 1 Lecture Notes - Lecture 23: East Los Angeles College, Adobe After Effects, Opponent Process
Document Summary
Light: made of photons, amplitude, wavelength, purity (extent that light is made of single wavelength) Cones, rods contain photopigments which change chemical perception) and rods (dim light; light sensitive) structure and become white (bleaching) both) One kind of rod photopigment (ie. brightness or colour, not. 3 in cones (one sensitive to low, medium and long wavelengths), 1. Cones- centre of retina in area called fovea; rods- around edges. Many rods connect to single ganglion; one cone to one ganglion. Fovea- fine detail, sharp colour in rods. Additive colour mixing: new colours by adding together coloured lights (white light=many diff. wavelengths combined) Subtractive colour mixing: mixing different paint pigments together. Of pair, one set of cones becomes (ex. green) fatigued. Fire less (more than red ones still) so green is seen. When looking at a white surface after, red cones are fresh and they fire (see red) until green cones recover.
