Document Summary

Non-insulated and with many ion channels (no myelin) Input excitatory or inhibitory postsynaptic potentials spread to axon hillock. Combination of input postsynaptic potentials may or may not result in ap at axon hillock. Can occur spatially (simultaneous inputs same time with different amplitudes) or temporally (sequential inputs sending info at different times, frequency of signals) Sarcomere: organization units of myofilaments (based on microscopy; separated light and dark colored bands) z line to z line pattern of bands change with contraction and relaxation. Z lines: where sarcomere starts and ends: borders, place of attachment for actin, t tubules located there (action potential) I bands (isotropic: from z line to end of myosin, only thin (light color under microscope) A band (anisotropic: complete length of myosin, thin and thick (looks darkest under microscope = absorbs more light, t tubules located here. H zone: center of the a band, only thick, only myosin. M line: middle of h zones, hold myosin.
