Minoan/crete: located on the island of crete, they were a maritime nation, broken up into three periods: Mycenaeans/achaeans: 1450-1200/1100bc, located on mainland greece, surpassed the minoan as the major power of the area towards the late period of the. Surviving objects which tell us about these times: artwork. Graves, records, clothes (extant garments), jewelry, etc: activities/entertainment. Limited difference between the minoans and the mycenaeans: know the few distinct differences for test purposes! Minoans: egypt plays a part in letting us know about the minoans and their maritime culture. The ancient egyptians referred to them as kefti: tried of clothes, art, etc. throughout many regions led to in uences from other areas on costuming, main textiles = ax linen, fur, wool, leather (skins), etc. Later on, silk and cotton came into play due to trading: crete had many city castles. The warp of the fabric was weighted, and the weft was ran through the bers.
