Close the loop: thank people who make a difference. Saying thanks matters more than thinking it. Phone calls are worse than thank you notes. Men are less likely to write thank you notes. Women feel less burden and obligation and greater levels of gratitude when presented with gifts. Do things actively: value of experiences (none of this is true if you"re just trying to impress people with your experiences) Material good: tangible object in your possession. Experiences improve with time- gain new meanings. People mentally revisit their experiences more than things they"ve bought. Experiences provide pleasure even after the event. Experiences resist unfavorable comparisons because each experience is unique. Things are easy to compare because they are similar to other things. It isnt happiness that matters as much as meaning - doing meaningful things. Volunteer work, helping others makes you happier. 2. Music makes you happy if you like the music. Don"t be envious, be happy for others.
