Darwin"s theory (first 1859 in the origin of species: natural selection, organisms develop favourable or unfavourable in comparison to the environment. Its random: survival of the fittest, only the fittest , the organisms with favourable features stay alive, others get selected, must fit in environment. He tried to measured intelligence: was not very successful, but inspired subsequent generations to address the issue of intelligence testing. Contemporaries of him wasn"t impressed, they believed intelligence would be divine. Animals and humans are parted of each other by mental capacity. Galton shows, animals are influenced by the vitality of there parents. Humans and animals were descended from a common ancestor, they have a lot in common comparative psychology (= studying animals to learn about human behaviour) increased in popularity.
