Self-schematic focus on traits important to them. Participants fed adjectives and asked to identify them as independent or dependent. In addition, some would quickly be able to recall experiences that demonstrated their schema. Recognition of the complexity of the self and how it is beneficial to one"s own health and well-being to have multiple self-identities. The extent to which self-schemas are clearly defined, consistent with each other and stable over time. The recognition of the self regardless of changes that may be made e. g. infants have a red spot on their nose and put in front of a mirror. Focus of people"s awareness of discrepancies between the actual self and their perceived and ought selves.
