Support process: process that performs necessary, albeit not value added, activities, example: evaluation suppliers, recruiting new workers. Development process: process that seeks to improve performance of primary and support processes, developing new products. For many business processes, no single function or supply chain partner has a complete view or complete control of the situation: requires cross-function and cross-organization perspective that actively looks at logical flow of activities.
