PHYSICS 102 Lecture 30:
Document Summary
Business process: a set of logically related tasks or activities performed to achieve a defined business outcome. Outcomes can be physical, informational or monetary in nature: primary process: main value added activities of an organization, support process: necessary non- value added activities, development process: improve the performance of primary and support process. Nearly every process spans across multiple functional areas and supply chain and managing those is not the same as managing functions. Improving business processes requires the different functional areas to look beyond their own activities and see the process through the customer"s eyes. Mapping: developing graphical representations of the organizational relationships and/or activities that make up a business process: creates a common understanding of the content of the process. It defines the boundaries of the process (start, finish, what is involved) It provides a baseline against which to measure the impact of improvement efforts.
