Document Summary

It is the enzyme responsible for taking carbon dioxide out of the air and producing oxygen. Energy supplied (carbon dioxide + h2o c6h12o6 (glucose) + o2) What are carbohydrates: composition, literally carbon + water, (ch2o)n, function, energy, structural. Disaccharide: 2 sugars, short term e storage. Polysaccharide: many sugars, long-term e storage, structural. Mendel investigated inheritance of single traits using pea plants. 10-9-15: flower dissected to show reproductive structures. Stomata: microscopic openings in the epidermis of leaves that allow the exchange of gases between the outside air and the inside of the leaf. Opens and closes in response to the internal pressure of two sausage shaped guard cells that surround it. When the guard cell is filled with water it becomes turgid, the outer wall balloons outward, causing the stomata to open. There is no such thing as active water transport!! Water can move through the membrane with help. Factors that control stomata opening and closing: carbon dioxide concentration.
