Observer bias- the observer opinions effects the results of the study. Blind observer- the person performing the observation does not know exactly know what the researcher wants them to look for. Participant observation- being unnoticeable during an observation, a way to counter the observer effect. Representative sample- randomly put beings into groups to have an accurate representative of society. Quasi-experiment- no representative sample because of the independent variable. Know correlations and names in the first chapter. Strength of the correlation- is the one farthest from zero. Psychologist- associated with in one or more areas of psychology, and earns a phd. Functionalism, - work live play functions of the brain. Psychoanalysis is trying to repress/suppress feelings into the unconscious mind. Humanism is self-actualization (reaching one"s full potential) and free will. Sociocultural is the relationship between society and culture. Psychodynamic unconscious belief, didn"t focus on freud"s ideas of unconscious ideas comes from suppressed sexual urges.
