Can charge higher prices, because they run the industry. Laws that generally promote fair competition amongst large companies. Large media companies have taken over the industry. Anti-trust laws have tried to stop companies from completely controlling a certain industry, but many have failed. Companies are constantly updating patents and controlling what information the public receives. Believe regulation by large companies hurts consumers ability to view all information. Rise of tv resulted in decline of seriousness of public life. Tv prompts/dictates how we talk and think. We only process the news we are shown and are unable to think seriously about social/political issues. The dynamic where components of a company work together to produce benefits that would be impossible for a single, separately operated unit of the company. I. e. encourage the publication of books that can be easily made into movies.
