Can threaten the stability of a marriage and lead other children in the family to feel rejected and neglected: impact on individual. Simply dealing with the de cits in functioning- struggling to do the things others do easily. Facing stigma, bullying/social rejection by other children-increases with age: early treatments. Individuals with disabilities act (neda) is a federal law ensuring services to children (1975-present) Governs how states and public agencies provide early intervention, special education, and related services to infants, toddlers, children and youth: early intervention is from 0-2 years old, importance of early treatment. Many children lag behind peers in various areas of development and may learn more slowly. The years prior to starting school are a critical time for development and therapies can frequently overcome some de cit areas if initiated while the brain has optimal plasticity.
