Doesn"t really seem like we should jump to conclusions. Listening to mozart for 10 mins vs other relaxing music for 10 mins. Took monkeys away from momma monkeys, and replaced momma with cloth mother and wire mother. Only went to wire when they were hungry, but majority of the time was spent with cloth mother. Imprinting: a sensitive period during which young animals become strongly attached to a nearby adult. Contact comfort is important in social development. Some skills (eg mothering) are learned, not genetic. Lack of nurturing skills has negative consequence. Strongly attached to who"s nearby even if it isn"t mom. Monkey did not lead happy life, they had their own monkey issues. Offered a framework for understanding and charting child development. Interested in types of mistakes kids made.
