The whiskey rebellion started when the farmers from pennsylvania in 1794, decided to go against the federal officials by not paying the whiskey excise tax. These farmers also terrorized and manhandled the tax collectors. Unlike the shay"s rebellion, the government took action by sending fifteen thousand troops to pennsylvania to handle the rebellion. Upon reaching pittsburgh, the troops gave a crumbled rebellion. The government won cooperation with the rebels of the whiskey tax with intimidation and authority. This was one of the problems coming from the western areas of the country: jay"s treaty. Jay"s treaty was made for the compensation for the assaults that the british did to the american shipping. It was also made to inform the british troops to leave the frontier posts/areas, and a new treaty. The treaty was significant in that it stopped the americans and the. However, jay was faced with a lot of criticism and he was publically denounced.
