Neisser (1976): lab studies of memory are not ecologically valid bc: Testing occurs over a relatively short period of time. Subject attrition (ppl move away, die, forget, etc) makes longitudinal research diff. Episodic & autobiographical memory are the same memory system, studies in diff ways: Autobiographical memory can be shaped by social and emotional forces that occur during or after the event. 9) a diary study of autobiographical memory. Monthly tests: randomly selected cards, paired them. Estimated the order, then tried to guess the dates.
