ANAT 025 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Primary Olfactory Cortex, Postcentral Gyrus, Auditory Cortex
Document Summary
Human anatomy lateral sulcus insula lobe- fifth lobe in each hemisphere. Very important in gustation (sense of taste) Occipital lobe- most posterior part- primary visual cortex. Primary cortex refers to parts of lobe that receives the impulse. Start in the back of your eye and end up at most posterior part of your brain from here they go forward to visual association area. Post central gyrus- primary somatosensory cortex impulses will come here for interpretation and then it will go forward again temporal lobe- auditory association area for interpretation and primary auditory cortex that receives impulses from inner ear. Frontal lobe-primary motor cortex- refers to precentral gyrus. Receives impulses coming into frontal lobe from being interpreted. Premotor cortex is the frontal association area. Decides how you are going to respond. Wernicke"s, gnostic, and the broca"s area- all part of speech mechanism.
