Conscious part = tip, preconscious = middle part, unconscious = deepest/id. Need to be careful with the differences in contemporary and freudian meaning of ego. Unconscious bundle of instincts that maximize pleasure and avoid pain. Most powerful part of our 3-part mind. Sex drive comes from id, most closely associated with aggression and death.
