Causes: family pressures: family conflict and rejection predict bulimia. In anorexia, perceive families as: close, conflict-less, with anorexia, families tend to be enmeshed, overly involved in one another"s lives, parenting that is: Intrusive: overly-controlling, child overly controls eating, some parents model, unhealthy eating, body image, others directly pressure children to be thin. Causes: control issues: struggle for control, taking pride in controlling, diet, weight, control gives sense of autonomy, those attempting to be overly compliant to, parents, perfectionism, societal rules, set unrealistically high standards, self-critical, demand flawlessness.
