Marital distress scale (mds) high score t > 60. Developed by hjemboe et al. (1992) to identify troubled marriages. Items were selected by correlating mmpi-2 item responses with the scores on the dyadic. Adjustment scale of 150 couples involved in marital counseling and 392 couples from the mmpi-2 normative sample. Additional mmpi-2 items were added if they had a high correlation to the scale. Items were removed if their content did not relate to marital distress or if their removal improved discriminative ability. High scores (t > 60) may indicate significant marital distress. Hostility (ho) high score t > 65. Scale development: empirical keying then rational (content based) Developed by cook and medley(1954) to predict the rapport of teachers with their students. Contrasted two groups of teachers: high vs. low scorers on the minnesota teacher. 250 items were endorsed differently, 77 had content that reflected hostility.
