Even after the revolutionary war, many people still carried signs of independence . Framers were hurt due to the economic depression in 1787. The prices for agricultural commodities were at an all-time low. Some towns asked for relief from the state. They raised property tax to pay of war debt. Farmers thought they had the right to rise up in defense. Men marched into courts, shutting down government works. It was successful to the farmers and known as shay"s rebellion, led by daniel shay. Some conservatives saw it as a battle between rich and poor. White shirts destroyed shaysites and the governor punishes the black frocks. The people vote him out and put new one in, who paused debts and lowered taxes. & say debt paid: conservatives thought ri was doing evils. 2: washington chaired meeting, james madison took notes. 1787- 55 men met @ philly (ri didn"t attend) Constitution framed by white men who represented elite (patriots & republicans)
