Document Summary
Me, myself, and i perspectives on the self. Two views of how the world works: how communication shapes us vs. how we shape communication, have view vs. do view, self as personality , something we have , self as constructed through communication, something we do . Communication survey given at beginning of semester: shows how we view our self and others, we might not answer completely truthfully cause you"re managing your own expectations and other people"s expectations of you. Compartments of your life: differences or similarities, a lot of similarities, seinfeld clip: george experiences conflict because relationship george is different than independent george. Instrumental, intentional: example: showing up to an interview early and how you dress, impressions given off (expressive) the things we do to project unintentionally a given self. Incidental, unintentional: example: showing up to interview with jacket on inside out; blinking without realizing mascara was still wet.
