Document Summary
The more social an organism is, the more evolutionary intelligent they are. This is why primates such as humans, apes, and monkeys are amongst the smartest apes in the world. Brains are better developed better for communication- they have developed deception, altruism, numerical concepts, and the theory of mind . Intellectual ability (ability to learn, remember and use new information, solve problems, and adapt to novel situations. Cognitive capability- ability to acquire, process, and recall information. Social factors theory- social nature of primates is one evolutionary source of our intelligence. Was probably the first to popularize the notion that the heritability of psychological traits could be assessed by looking at identical and fraternal twins. Francis galton (one of the first who was interested in measuring intelligence)- measured physical characteristics such a grip strength and psychological attributes such as the ability to judge distance or discriminate between colours. He thought that intelligence was inherited so he tracked students over 40 years.
