Document Summary
Light travels in waves with two important properties. The range of visible light for humans is approx. 380nanometers (short wavelengths, like purple and blue) to 800nanometers (long wavelengths, like orange and red) Cosmic rays through x-rays and uv light, to tv and radio waves. What is visible is this really small sliver of what is actually there. Cornea encases the eyeball, protects it. it rests over the pupil and iris. Iris is the colored part of the eye, and the pupil is the black part, where light enters. Light is sent back in the eyeball, refracted by the lens inside and then to the retina (houses the photo receptors, rods and cones, and some other cells that sum up info from the rods and cones) Rods: for viewing dim light with no color. Cones: for bright light with color, concentrated in the fulvia (center of the retina). Info is taken back out the pupil and turned right side up.
