Document Summary
Only thing that will be on exam are the sleep disorders. Exam will not have include epilepsy but will include the sleep disorders. Insomnia doesn"t count as a sleeping disorder but it is a big issue. In sleep apnea, you basically stop breathing for a while during slumber. During relaxation of sleep, tongue relaxes and blocks the air flow from nose and blocks air flow to the lungs. Sensors for carbon dioxide in the arteries and if you don"t breath in you can"t breath out so carbon dioxide will start accumulating. Activate system enough to get closer to being awake and gasp for air. Can do this hundreds of times a night. Put sensors, measure chest expansion and measure oxygen flow. If this is wrong, you have something wrong in the brain stem. Constantly in a state of low oxygen and you"re always tired. Put mask on head and it pushes air in so it pushes through the obstruction.
