Document Summary

Values are defined as good, valuable, or essential elements. You might say you respect honesty; another way to say that is honesty is one of your values. Others may value physical health, friendships, financial or family success. Everyone prioritizes those things they find important in life. Values only become apparent when you have to make a choice; for example when you have to choose between friendship and integrity, or material success and family. In general, behavior is consistent with the principles. Many people, for example, believe financial success is more important than family or health. Others placed religious faith, knowledge, integrity and/or freedom at a higher priority than financial success or status. Values as value judgments are also compared to moral assessments of goodness. We see that it is possible to differentiate both from objective assumptions, which can be tested empirically. Note the difference between those judgments of reality.
