Document Summary

Beginning of the fight for women"s suffrage in the united states grew out of a larger women"s rights movement. This reform movement and effort would evolve during the 19th century by emphasizing at first a broad spectrum of goals which eventually would be lesser priority than focusing singularly on securing the franchise for women. Women"s suffrage leaders would often disagree with the tactics being used and whether they should prioritize federal or state reforms. The very first gathering was completely devoted towards women"s rights in the. United states which was being held on july 19, 1848 and continued onto the next day as well. The principal organizers of the seneca falls convention were known as elizabeth. Cady stanton, who was a mother of four and was located in the upstate new york region. Around 100 people would attend the convention, more than half being women that were present.
