Conscious and unconscious behavioral determinants: to what degree are people aware of the causes of their conduct. Conversely, in developing their theories and in their study, trait and cognitive theorists rely heavily on self-reporting data. They believe, for example, that people will recognize and report their social anxiety level, or how they organize information in their minds.
