Must learn to not always have morals and be good in order to remain in power. If you wish for peace, prepare for war . Willing to fight in war to preserve security. We have no eternal allies, and we have no perpetual enemies. Realism that conditions called war; and such a war, as if of every man, against every man and perpetual, and those interest it is our duty to follow number who are not good. Hence a prince who wants to keep his authority must learn how not to be good, and use that knowledge, or refrain from using it, as necessity requires power at that time.
