Issue of establishing power: overruling power, maintaining power, political power, economic power, us very unique in that they could become independent and go on to be a global superpower. Defense of national sovereignty, territorial disputes: big issue right now in middle east in last few decades, perceived that they were being invaded by foreign outsiders ie us, ussr, afghanistan 1979 ussr. Us thought there was wpd but there were not: territorial disputes. Israel promised land because the jewish people were globally attacked in holocaust and post: the promised land happened to fall within palestine"s, will go to war when they feel their nation is being encroached upon by borders another.
