NSG 3315 Lecture Notes - Lecture 19: Myocarditis, Vasoconstriction, Unstable Angina
Document Summary
Disorders that usually appear to affect the whole heart: These disorders can cause symptoms of both right and left signed heart failure. In ammation of the pericardium may restrict the heart"s movement due to: Fibrous scar tissue making the pericardium stick to the heart. Fluid in the pericardial cavity = pericardial effusion: Fluid in the pericardial cavity > restricts heart expansion > left and right ventricle cannot accept enough blood > decreased cardiac output > decreased blood pressure/shock. Left and right ventricle cannot accept enough blood. Disorders of blood ow to the muscle of the heart caused by stable or unstable atherosclerosis plaques in the heart arteries. May obstruct blood ow in portions of the heart muscle causing ischemia. Chest pain during periods when the body requires more oxygen. Chest pain that is relieved with rest or medication. Plaques that rupture and form clothes leading to increased ischemia and possible infarction.
