Health and aging project (waite et al. , 2009) the majority of older adults maintained spousal or partner relationships, and they view sexuality as an important part of their lives. For those sexually active, the frequency of sex was lower among 75 to. 85 year olds compared to younger individuals (lindau et al. , 2007) 57-64 years old: 84% of men, 62% of women had sex with a partner in past year. 75-85 years old: 38% of men, 17% of women had sex with a partner in past year. Those sexually active remain so, only gradually reducing the frequency of sexual activity in the oldest group. Vaginal intercourse remains high, even for oldest group, 75% for women, 84% for men. Foreplay (hugging, kissing, other sexual touching) almost identical at all ages. Oral sex declines with 28% of men and 36% of women aged 75-85 reporting experiencing oral sex. Why views on sexuality and older adults matter.
